The EU-MORE project recently concluded a review of policies aimed at accelerating the replacement of old, inefficient industrial electric motors across the 27 EU Member States. The review encompassed 64 policy measures, detailing national authorities, implementation timelines, budgets, and impacts on electricity savings and motor replacements.

The study, with input from country experts, identified a strong prevalence of financial measures like subsidies and loans, followed by mandatory standards, fiscal measures, and voluntary agreements. It also noted a lack of training and information measures, especially relevant for industrial SMEs, and few policies incorporating systemic approaches to motor systems.

The review included an analysis of motor policies outside the EU. Post-presentation, participants engaged with speakers to discuss necessary policy measures for promoting state-of-the-art electric motor adoption in industry and services.
