On June 12, 2024, a milestone was achieved for Reschool Project at their Dutch pilot site. Resourcefully and OpenRemote signed an agreement with local DSO Liander, during an event focused on sustainable grid congestion measures themed “Energy Sharing in the Neighbourhood.” Over 100 participants attended.
The event celebrated the unveiling of Amsterdam’s 1000th smart charging station, aiming for 4000 stations (8000 sockets) to enable smart charging. It highlighted the Netherlands as the world leader in solar panels per capita.
Key discussions included:
- Optimisation of energy infrastructure and energy sharing.
- Organisational, financial, and administrative options.
- Involvement and experiences of local residents.
Energy sharing within neighborhoods was promoted for its benefits like efficient infrastructure use, lower CO2 emissions, reduced costs, and increased energy independence. The Sporenburg neighbourhood in Amsterdam was a major focus, where residents generate 55-60% of their electricity needs through solar installations but only use a third due to current policies. The community aims to share surplus electricity peer-to-peer via a newly established local energy cooperative, enhancing self-consumption at various levels.
