To meet the 2050 energy targets, buildings must significantly reduce their energy needs by enhancing their performance in accordance with the Energy Efficiency First Principle. This transformation requires existing buildings to become energy-efficient, adopting a circular approach and minimizing whole life-cycle carbon emissions, while also addressing occupants' needs and promoting social inclusion.

Several EU-funded projects are currently working on innovative solutions for deep building renovation as part of the EU Renovation Wave. These projects focus on developing advanced renovation packages, circular and digitalised methods, and new business models.

The upcoming workshop, hosted by NEBULA, will feature presentations from seven key projects: REHOUSE, FORTESIE, CHRONICLE, EBENTO, SMARTeeSTORY, INPERSO, and MULTICARE. The workshop will cover technical, regulatory, and social challenges, explore innovative business models, and emphasise the importance of integrating circularity, inclusiveness, and aesthetics in renovation efforts.
