Imagine a building of the future, one that has perfect knowledge of its functionality, understands its energy efficiency, and dynamically responds to changes in occupancy, weather, and operating conditions to ensure health, comfort, and sustainability.
At the heart of this vision lies the Building Digital Twin (BDT) concept, which combines 3D geometrical information with a functional mathematical model. This powerful approach can be used across all phases of a building’s lifecycle, from design and construction to commissioning and real time operational control.
To make this vision a reality, the Building Digital Twin Association (BDTA) is developing SIMBOTs, standardized and ready-to-use components designed for the semantic neutral representation of equipment and other entities involved in real time building simulations.
As part of the Hycool IT project, a pilot data center has been used as an initial sandbox to test methodologies. Various simulation software tools have been compared, and a number of SIMBOTs have been developed and evaluated.
During this process, several challenges have been identified regarding possible standards for real time building simulations, which will be discussed collaboratively with software developers, aiming to refine, improve, and standardize the approach.
Hycool IT is organizing a dedicated workshop at the Sustainable Places conference, where we will present our findings, showcase pilot SIMBOTs, and exchange insights with industry experts.
