Cities are not short of ambition on climate and energy. The harder part is turning new solutions into action on the ground. That’s why the Smart Energy Cluster, a group of more than 40 EU-funded projects working together to break silos and speed up Europe’s clean energy transition, is bringing a different kind of session to the Smart City Expo World Congress 2026 in Barcelona.
On 5 November, 15:10 - 15:55, join “The Climate & Energy Quiz: Testing Knowledge & Unlocking Solutions for Cities”. Participants answer live, rapid-fire questions on their smartphones by scanning a QR code, with no app needed. After each question, the results and correct answer appear on screen, and project experts explain in a couple of minutes how their solution helps cities in practice.
5 SEC projects, 5 solutions
- ReLIFE: making building data accessible, so cities, banks and owners can plan deep renovations with confidence.
- EnerTEF: Europe’s network of AI testing facilities for energy, with one portal to test trustworthy AI tools on real data, as the City of Athens already does.
- BlueBird: turning buildings into flexible energy assets, with digital twins, forecasts and engaging tools for occupants.
- BUSINESS2ACT: practical tools that help businesses cut energy costs and meet new energy-efficiency obligations.
- EU-DREAM: AI-based energy assistants that let households manage their energy use in everyday language.
The session is moderated by IEECP and is part of its activities as a partner of the EU Climate Pact, which brings citizens, cities and organisations together to act on climate.
Whether you work for a city, a region, a business or a research team, come along, play, and leave with concrete tools you can use straight away.
