The Smart Energy Cluster, comprising seven innovative projects (FORTESIE, InEExS, DigiBUILD, RESONANCE, DEDALUS, EU-MORE, and ReSCHOOL), hosted a session on October 24th in Milan as part of EnLit Europe, showcasing Europe’s commitment to the energy transition through advanced technology and collaboration.

The session highlighted the transformative potential of digital tools like AI, blockchain, predictive analytics, and digital twins. Projects like FORTESIE and InEExS are leveraging blockchain for secure energy transactions, while DigiBUILD uses digital twins and AI to optimize building energy use. A key theme was data integration, as standardized, accessible data is essential for making informed decisions in energy management, resource allocation, and renovations.

Flexible energy management was emphasized, with projects like DEDALUS supporting demand response solutions to stabilize the grid and offer financial benefits to consumers. Community engagement was also central, with projects like ReSCHOOL and RESONANCE fostering community participation in energy management, promoting inclusivity in the energy transition.

Overcoming financial barriers through innovative funding models, as demonstrated by EU-MORE, was another focus. Alternative funding solutions like performance guarantees and crowdfunding aim to make energy-efficient renovations accessible to more people.

The Smart Energy Cluster, an initiative of the InEExS project, will continue addressing regulatory, financial, and behavioral barriers while fostering knowledge-sharing and policy alignment to drive a sustainable, community-oriented energy future in Europe.
